so good morning welcome so this week's par is called schl schlak means to send and Hashem tells mosha to send spies although Rashi tells us that it wasn't actually instruction um rather mosha requested from Hashem to send spies to spy out the land the people are now camped at the edge of the promised land and Hashem allows him to do so and so he sends out 12 Spies one from each tribe and one member of each tribe as a spy to scout out the land then spend 40 days scouting out the land um see what kind scouting out the land um see what kind of land it is they come back with a sampling of fruit from the land and when they come back they are um they say that yes it is a wonderful land with giant fruit they bring these giant fruit um however they say the people over there are very large and very powerold the cities are very heavily fortified and there's no way we will be able to capture it two of the spies Caleb from the tribe of Judah and Joshua from the tribe of Ephraim they both Ephraim they both um they both um say otherwise they insist that yes if Hashem all brings us to the land he will certainly allow us to capture the land but the spies continue to insist the other 10 that we will be unable to capture the land the people upon hearing this say Let Us return back to Egypt according to a new leader and return back to Egypt we don't want to go to the land of Canan just in order to be killed and for our children to be taken as slaves and so let's and so they don't
