Shabbat Hanukkah, we read a special haftorah from the book of Zechariah. Zechariah lived 200 years after Yeshayahu Hanavi, Isaiah the prophet. And Isaiah the prophet, Yeshayahu Hanavi, lived 200 years after Obadiah, who we spoke about recently last week in the haftorah, and 200 years after Eliyahu Hanavi, who and 200 years after Eliyahu Hanavi, who was the teacher of Obadiah. This gives you a perspective of Zechariah Hanavi. Zechariah Hanavi was considered to be from the last prophets, as the Gemara says in Yoma page 9 side 2, when Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi passed away, says the Gemara, "Nistalkah ruach hakodesh miYisrael." Prophecy ascended from the Jewish people. As we explained, it ascended, people. As we explained, it ascended, meaning the era of prophecy ended, but there were individual prophets throughout the ages amongst the Jewish people. This haftorah is divided into three parts. It starts off by saying, "Ronni veSimchi bat Tzion." Which means, "Sing and be glad, daughter of Zion." The haftorah takes place on the 24th of Shevat in the year 3409 on the Jewish calendar, on the Jewish calendar, during the reign of Darius the second of Persia. Now, 18 years earlier, the reconstruction of the second Holy Temple had been halted. And now, again, they were allowed to start the rebuilding of the second Holy Temple. And so, 5 months earlier, they resumed to rebuild the second Holy Temple. However, they were doubtful that this Temple would be equal to and as great as the first Holy Temple.
