Shmita is a real test of faith. To leave our fields fallow for an entire year, as the Torah says, people will ask, "What are we going to eat?" Now, who's asking that question? Is it somebody with weak faith? Apparently not, as we'll see from Rashi. The Rebbe has explained multiple times through Rashi that Rashi, in his commentary, will address any question that comes up from the simple understanding of the pasuk. If Rashi is unable to find a satisfactory answer, at least at the pasuk level, then he'll say, "I don't know how to resolve this issue." So, that's what Rashi does. So, if he says we need to understand In our parashah, we have the laws of Shmita every seventh year that you have to leave the land fallow. And after that, the Torah tells us the laws of the special Yovel year, every 50th year.
