I want to mention for the record there are two questions about serious Omer which people don't ask one of which I have asked for decades and one of the other which I just came across was one of my favoritism and I'm putting them out there for people to maybe provide answers or find answers um everybody asks well we count up and not down talks about that and there's a whole lot of discussion of that what they don't ask is as I saw it in the writings of Robert Shapiro it only is why we count in cardinal numbers rather than ordinal numbers they don't say back to school hey okay you can Google it and look it up yeah that's what they play cards with and there was a bird's thing I'll explain to you I'll explain to you cardinal numbers are three four five six seven ordinal numbers are third fourth fifth sixth seventh we don't say this is the seventh day of the Omer we say this is seven days plural of the Omer why do we do that for counting the days as they go by after six comes the seventh state it's a one 24-hour period you rip one page off the calendar why do you say this is seven days in of the Omer that's a terrific question ask it around see what you get and the other thing which I've asked for many years is um if you're counting the days as they go by counting up counting down why
