We are currently in the midst of the days of Chol HaMoed Sukkot. Today is the day of the Ushpizin of our forefather Jacob. I would like to speak a little about the essence of Sukkot and reach something that connects us to Jacob's Ushpizin. First and foremost, one must know that the Almighty's original plan during the six days of Creation had a different calendar entirely. The holy Sages bring a Midrash in Yalkut Shimoni, Parashat Pinchas, stating that God wanted to give a holiday in every month of the summer. The Almighty wanted there to be a holiday every month in the summer. We have seven months in the summer, from Nisan to Tishrei, and five winter months. The Almighty wanted there to be a holiday every month in the summer. I will state the version as it appears in the Midrash according to the Chida: Nisan–Passover, Iyar–Second Passover, Sivan–Shavuot, Tammuz–Day of Remembrance, Av–Yom Kippur, Elul –Sukkot, Tishrei–Shemini Atzeret. Strange things, but that is what is written in the words of our holy Sages. I repeat: Nisan–Passover, Iyar– Second Passover, Sivan–Shavuot, Tammuz–Day of Remembrance, Av–Yom Kippur, Elul–Sukkot, Tishrei– Shemini Atzeret. Since Israel sinned with the Calf, all the holidays were pushed to Tishrei, that is what is recorded. What does "all the holidays" mean? The Calf occurred on the 17th of Tammuz, so the Day of Remembrance was canceled, Yom Kippur was canceled, and Sukkot was canceled, and everything moved to Tishrei. That is, on the 1st of Tishrei, Rosh Hashanah merged with the Day of Remembrance. In Tishrei, Yom Kippur was added; we received a new holiday two months after the previous
