Shalom everybody. Uh this is called the title of the year is leading a double life. Not the kind of double life that we uh see in movies which we'll be talking about. Let me talk a little bit about the history of film. Um, in 1900, someone called Arthur Melbourne Cooper screened a film called Grandma's Reading Glass. Glass. It was uh about 2 minutes long and people watching it probably didn't realize they were watching the beginning, the birth of a language. What made Grandma's reading glass unique was the usage of something called a POV [clears throat] shot, >> point of view shot. >> Up to that point, when they made movies, course is right at the beginning of of the cinema. The idea, all they did was the cinema. The idea, all they did was point a camera at a scene and that was it. Of course, this was pretty magical for people who'd never seen moving pictures before. You know, there were stories that right back in the beginning that people would go up to the screen and and open try to see where the horses were jumping through the walls. It was like, you know, unbelievable. And we don't realize how amazing this whole thing was. But film to this point really wasn't a language. We take it for granted that film is a language, something that can language, something that can convey stories, emotions, ideas. This is something nobody ever thought of. films were thought of as like a a penny arcade amusement. You know, just the mere technical wizardry of being able to present moving pictures which weren't alive. So, Grandma's reading glass is a couple of minutes long barely. But what made it unique was the fact that when the this little boy picks up grandma's reading glasses and he puts them to his eyes,
