The shiur in English

The Yanuka’s own words in this shiur, translated into English by Lehallel · 950 words · 4:14. Press a time to hear it said.

0:08 When you pray the Amidah prayer, and you reach "Modim anachnu lach", "We thank You", you read "for our lives which are entrusted into Your hand, and for our souls which are in Your charge" - these are two aspects. "For our lives which are entrusted into Your hand" - that is the initials of ayin-beis and yud-gimmel. Ayin-beis is chessed, kindness, and yud-gimmel is the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy. A person needs that over his life the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy should be awakened, and the Name Ayin-Beis, so that the conduct of the side of kindness will be with him, and over the soul.

0:39 In this phrase that we say, "for our lives entrusted into Your hand and our souls in Your charge", there are two aspects. Our lives are with Him, and the souls, His, the souls of all of us, which are His, blessed be He - it is all His - are also with Him. "For our lives entrusted into Your hand and for our souls in Your charge." That is to say, our physical side too, which is us, and also the spiritual side, which is our souls, are with Him. So stop - don't read it quickly. Stop: "for our lives entrusted into Your hand" - and stop.

1:07 Say in your heart: Master of the world, my life is entrusted into Your hand, and if it is in Your hands, then surely it will be the very best life, the most wonderful and the sweetest, and it will have all the miracles and wonders - and whatever you need, have it in mind in them. Have this in mind - you will have wonders, you will not know how many. And then ask for the spiritual side, "and for our souls in Your charge" - so if they are in Your hands, won't You make them the holiest and the purest? What - they are in Your hands! If they were in my hands, if they were in my charge, then I really would ruin them.

1:35 But if they are in Your charge, then what do you want? Won't they be the purest, the holiest, the most perfected? Have it in mind like this, and write down this rule for yourselves, and remember it, because much, much of your life can change for the better by your having this intention in mind. It is little in quantity and great in quality. And you will see other wonders, that you no longer... it is already a different life. Have this in mind on Shabbos, on weekdays, in everything - always have it in mind.

2:01 That if it is in His hands, then it is the very best life. If our soul is in His hands, then it is the holiest. And even after a person has sinned, to say: Master of the world, my soul is entrusted to You, so if it is with You now, then repair it, wash it, purify it, raise it up. Ask for whatever you want. Have it in mind. "My life is entrusted into Your hand." If it is in Your hand, surely it will be the very best, because it is in Your hand.

2:26 Presumably, if I gave an object into the hands of a person I love, or to a person close to me, to keep for him, surely he would look after it for me. If he loves me, he would also look after it for me in the best way. A person, simply, over an object. My life, Master of the world - "for our lives entrusted into Your hand" - our lives are in Your hand, so won't You look after them in the best way, Master of the world? That they be full of Torah, and joy, and vitality, and wealth, and abundance, surely, because they are entrusted into Your hand, for You are merciful, full of mercy, and surely, "and for our souls in Your charge" - that is another deposit, the soul is with You; I have no doubt that You will see to it that it will be the purest, because it is with You,

3:04 "and for our souls in Your charge" - it is all Yours, it is destined to return to You, so surely You will see to it that the soul will be the purest and the cleanest - and that is my trust in You. When it is in Your hands, Master of the world, I have no doubt it will be the very best, because it is in Your hand. What could be not good in Your hand? In Hashem's hand. Wouldn't you be glad that it is in Hashem's hand? Every person is always afraid, afraid for everything of his; even when he has something, he worries while it is with him himself: that they will steal from him, lest it get lost, lest he not look after it properly.

3:38 But here you say: your life is entrusted into Hashem's hands. Be so sure that He will see to it that it is the very best. Hashem, blessed be He, all in all wants us to believe in Him. All in all He wants us to trust in Him; He does not want more than that. He wants us to trust in Him, He wants us to believe in Him, He wants us to trust in Him, that our life will be the very best in His hands. To feel this mercy of trust, that He will give us the very best, will give us the very best life.

4:02 And all in the most complete mercy, and not judgment - all complete mercy.
