[Music] so trust in god is a very important jewish idea fundamental jewish value the question is what does it mean what does it exactly mean to trust in god i want to start by describing some things it doesn't mean and then we'll move to some of the things it does mean and it doesn't mean just one thing it needs to tell a few things [Music] some people have the following picture in their minds god is running the world he's all powerful you can't fight with he's all powerful you can't fight with him what he wants to be done is what's going to be done and he's running it for the best not only can't you fight with him but you can't help him either he doesn't need your help your help doesn't count so really there's no reason to do anything aside from itself that he commanded us to do he commands them we should do them but other than that there's no necessity but other than that there's no necessity to do anything else in particular there's no reason to have a job if god wants you to be provided for you'll be provided for even if you don't take a job and if god doesn't want you to be provided for then you won't be provided for even if you do take a job
