others who each day ask themselves at some point during that day what would Brian do how would he react so in that and the many more he has is alah I also want to dedicate our learning this morning to those who gave their lives on 911 18 years ago as we uh begin our ordinary day today we remember 18 years ago which was anything but ordinary and I just mentioned in the M sharum class that um how many people that day expected to go home that night or families expected their loved one and it didn't happen any day that at the end it didn't happen any day that at the end of the day we have the same headcount in our home as we had the beginning of the day is a miraculous day for which we should give such gratitude and while 911 poses many theological questions which we're not going to examine this morning which all stem from the age-old question of why do bad things happen to good people a question I have too much respect for you to try to unpack today maybe any day although someday we will try to examine it together um I think on this this reflective day of 9/11 we can focus either on the villains or on the focus either on the villains or on the heroes and there were villains evil evil people who perpetrated an atrocity and so many lives were lost and so many more lives have forever been changed as a result uh and we can and do focus on that but we can and should also focus on the heroes and um I posted this morning that to me what's etched into my memory is not 911 or 911 alone it's 912 9913 914 9:15 and the reaction of a country that came together with unity and with love and
