i'm just going to mention a few words about her liba basia mr shkolnikov was born on the first day of pesach in kishinov krishna which was considered romania in 1928. in 1940 the soviet union took over the area where she lived today it's known as moldova you probably have read a lot about moldova recently and a year later the nazis were advancing on kischenov and her father went to war to fight the germans never to return her mother and her had to flee east to run away from hitler's uh armies and ss murderers and they fled east to tashkent which is uzbekistan that's where many jews fled to and many of them survived they had they were a family in moldova and krishna of great means they were very affluent so they were being persuaded not to leave because you don't leave behind so many assets and so much money but liba's mother of blessed memory told her that all material assets in the world don't equate to the value of life so they gave up everything and they fled and they survived in tashkent hitler didn't make it to tashkent now liba the the woman whose yard sitters today she picked up languages very easily so she quickly learned the native language in uzbekistan and then allowed her to work as a translator and earn money in those very difficult years and save her family from starvation because many fled the front lines of the german army but they died from hunger she was only 13 years old at the time as i said she was born in 1928. when the war ended she met her future
