All right - it's been suggested we give you a little introduction to the forthcoming fall and winter. Reb Noson speaks about it in Likutey Halachos. We say in the evening prayer, the first blessing: M'Shanah Itim - HaShem changes the times, changes day and night. Machlif Es Hazmanim - He changes the times. We're coming out of summer; we’ve entered fall. Fall gets a little cold, then gets a lot colder, and then the winter comes. Days become short and nights become long, and all the accompaniments of winter - snow, sleet, dangerous driving conditions, dangerous walking conditions. How many bones get broken in the winter from the snow, sliding, slipping, and so on? May HaShem spare us. So what we have to understand is that all these changes are for the good - they're for the best. The rains actually clean up the air. A lot of viruses; a lot of bacteria form, and the rains wash it away. The snow freezes it over. We have to be careful with the ice, but what it means is that we don’t control the weather. That’s for sure. There’s a lot of weathermen out there. I read a cute story once - one lady calls up the weather station
