Rabbi Kotler was of the opinion that one does not need to travel, one does not need to recite the Gomel. And the Satmar Rebbe was of the opinion that one does. There was a halachic argument between them. This one held this way, and that one held that way. In the end, the Satmar Rebbe agreed with the opinion of Rabbi Kotler that one does not need to recite the Gomel, but one can recite it without mentioning God's name or sovereignty.
