0:01 Just as when we are wearing tefillin we do not take our mind off the tefillin, and this is the essence of the holiness of tefillin: when a person does not take his mind off them - the Kohen Gadol, when he entered the Holy of Holies - a lapse of attention causes death. When we are in a holy place on a holy day, it is forbidden to take our mind off the day.
0:28 The day of the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash, the Holy Temple - on this day it is forbidden to take our mind off the mourning and off the destruction of the Temple. And whoever thinks a great deal about this matter, and reflects on it, and understands that the Temple that was destroyed - it's not that people should now try to picture some magnificent building that Herod... that was destroyed, a magnificent building; rather, what was destroyed is the connection and our closeness to the Creator, which was a closeness without equal.
1:02 There was no closeness like it to the Creator, blessed be He, for a person would stay the night in Jerusalem and have no sin on him; everything was atoned for, there was no harm. There were miracles, there were wonders, there was life for the Jewish people. There was peace for the world, there was peace for the nations of the world. There were no wars, there were no troubles. And of course, as the work was completed in the First Temple, After our First Temple had already been destroyed and there was exile, then even the Second Temple was not on the same level as the First Temple.
1:35 So since the First Temple was destroyed, we are waiting for the Third Temple, because the Third Temple and the First Temple will be the same aspect: "The Sanctuary, Hashem, that Your hands established," and "Hashem will reign forever and ever." This is the Third Temple - it will be the Kingdom of Heaven, that the Holy One, blessed be He, will reign, and everyone will see His kingship. Because as long as there was the Second Temple and there was Roman rule, and they surrounded the Temple and ruled over us and oppressed us, it was not a complete kingship; it was already the beginning of exile, it was already the start of the exile, when you could see the Romans going around among us.
2:15 And what we need to pay attention to is to understand that the Temple is in the heart. The Temple is in the heart of every one. Each one of us is full of heavy burdens, full of lacks, full of problems, full of troubles. Each one has his suffering, his troubles, his problems. The destruction of the Temple is the root and source of all the suffering, all the sins, all the transgressions - everything stems from the destruction of the Temple.
2:48 When a person weeps over the Temple, when a person prays for it - it's as I said - I explained yesterday - that the main thing is not to show a face only on Tishah B'Av; the main thing is to be, all year, all year, at the point of midnight, weeping over the destruction of the Temple, and to be occupied with this all year. Because whoever is moved by it only one day a year - it shows how great his distance from the purpose is, that his service of Hashem is not aimed at the purpose, that he does not think about it at all.

3:20 But the main thing is to be, all year, around this matter, and every mitzvah we do for the honor of Hashem, and all the Torah we learn - "to raise up the Shechinah from the dust", for the elevation of the Shechinah of our strength, to raise up the holy Shechinah, to act for the sake of Heaven, to want the Temple to be built, to ask Hashem. The greater the understanding becomes, the more the world will understand what we lost. Just as a little baby cannot understand what the Temple is about, so too the world cannot understand what was destroyed for us.
3:52 The moment people think that it was - that it is something that was, and do not understand that to this day the Temple can be seen with actual physical eyes - it is possible to go and see the Temple standing, and the fire (of the altar), and all the miracles, and how everything exists, and everything that was. But today there are only the roars of a lion, and there is burning, and there is the sound of horses and horses' hooves, and the whole Roman army, and the swords, and the - and the screams, and the blood that flowed - all this, to this day, goes on and stands.
4:30 The "reshimu", the imprint, has not departed from Jerusalem. And whoever is pure - if they take a very pure person, they will see and feel that same thing, as if this imprint is still standing. This imprint has not departed from over the Temple. This imprint still stands - the same sounds of horses, the same spears and swords and bow and arrow, and all the weapons of war they hurled to conquer Jerusalem.
4:59 And this is a very great pain, that the holy Shechinah had to depart, and she was saying: "Farewell, house of My people, farewell, My Temple, farewell, My Sanctuary," and she went up and departed to a place high, high above. And the Temple was destroyed, and she parted from all the walls of the Holy of Holies, and kissed the Temple courtyard, and parted from the Kohanim, and went and went to the place she went, and she must be brought back.
5:27 And every day, in our Torah study and our prayer, we need to bring the Shechinah back to the Temple, to bring the Shechinah back to the Creator, blessed be He, to bring back the Shechinah, so that there will be "the unification of the Holy One, blessed be He, and His Shechinah", so that Hashem, blessed be He, will have satisfaction. Every Jew is a limb of the Shechinah. Every one of us who returns to Hashem brings the geulah closer.
5:51 Every part in every one that gives Hashem satisfaction - who prays, who learns, who sets his mind on the purpose, and understands: the Temple that was destroyed is knowledge that was destroyed. The main thing is to understand that knowledge was destroyed, and I need to connect, every day - every day I need to connect my mind to this House. "For Hashem is a G-d of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed." Great is knowledge!
6:17 What is meant by "Great is knowledge, for it was placed between two letters"? What does it mean? The Temple is knowledge? How is the Temple knowledge? What is there in the Temple? Everyone says that it was destroyed and everyone became fools and ignorant - where does that come from? Where is wisdom drawn from? So I explained: wisdom is drawn from the Temple. The light that is drawn from there is drawn to the whole world.
6:44 Beauty is drawn from there to the whole world, grace is drawn from there to the whole world. When the Temple was destroyed, all this light went down and flowed to the nations of the world; it has nowhere left to go down. And we need to gather this light back through the mourning over the destruction. When we grieve over the destruction of the Temple, and fast, and grieve, and it hurts, and we say Tikkun Chatzos every night - not only on this day to weep, not only on this day to weep - all year one must weep at the point of midnight over the Temple, even for a few moments, to say Tikkun Chatzos, to pray for it - then we bring back all the sparks the non-Jews took from us, that fell among the nations of the world - all the grace, all the importance,
7:31 all the wisdom, all the splendor, all the majesty, all the abundance, and we bring it back to the Jewish people. If we pray for the Temple every night, each time we pray for the House of Hashem, then the Holy One, blessed be He, in His mercy, will show us the consolation of Zion, for "Whoever mourns over Jerusalem merits to see her consolation." The meaning is that Hashem, blessed be He, will redeem us from all troubles, from all suffering He will redeem us, because suffering and troubles come from the destruction of the Temple.
8:10 Like the headplate of the Kohen Gadol, which atoned, and like the trousers of the Kohen Gadol, which atoned - all the things that were in the Temple atone. Now, how can one ask for atonement? By asking Hashem to build the Temple. Then a person includes in this request all the things that atone, and all the abundance, everything that was done in the Temple. And it is as if the Holy One, blessed be He, sees (and says): "Look at this one, how he asks before Me that there be such abundance in the world, that there be such atonement in the world, just because he wants the Temple."
8:43 But really, within this request, everything is included. Therefore it is always important, when we say "He Who makes peace in His heights, may He in His mercy make peace upon us", to say after it: "May it be Your will, Hashem our G-d and G-d of our fathers, that You build the Temple, and grant our portion in Your Torah, to do the statutes of Your will and to serve You with a whole heart." To pray for the Temple, understanding that this is perfection: there will not be - there will be no more death, there will be no more sorrow, there will be no suffering.
9:07 The whole world will be whole and repaired; everything will be perfection. There will be no sorrow in the world - think what a world it will be! How much mercy will be revealed in the world! See what pain - at the sound of bells. See, we are close to the Holy of Holies, this is the closest to the place of the Temple. This place here is Holy of Holies. It is impossible to describe or imagine. See what fear - what is being done upon the place of our Holy Land, upon our holy city, upon our place - the inheritance of our fathers.
9:41 They put such... someone who... they make these ringing sounds. We must ask Hashem for this all the time: "Master of the World, we cannot go on any more, have mercy on us, redeem us, build us the Temple." In the very asking and the waiting - or when a person knows this, even when we know this, even on its own, when a person has not yet grasped it, or does not know, he only knows what we are saying about this matter - that is already half a healing, already half a consolation, because the knowing itself already saves a person from all troubles.
10:18 That is why the Temple is called knowledge, because a person who knows the Temple knows that he must ask. So, "If you have acquired knowledge, what do you lack?" You are already repairing yourself in all the incarnations, because you are at the point of the purpose. When a person works for this, and for the honor of Hashem, and this is his goal: that Hashem, blessed be He, should have satisfaction, that the Temple be built, that Torah learning be with ease before Hashem.
10:45 When we have the Temple, then the Torah will be - we will have more peace of mind; the whole world will have the peace of mind to learn, they will have more ease in learning, there will be joy in the world, there will be no more troubles in the world, everything will be tranquility and ease before Hashem; we will feel Hashem's closeness. Everyone will see... What the tzaddikim feel in exile, everyone will feel every day; the simplest man will be able to feel it: to see Hashem eye to eye - "For eye to eye they will see when Hashem returns to Zion."
11:13 May it be His will that we merit this, to give Hashem, blessed be He, satisfaction, that the Temple be built. Amen. And as we said, the main thing is to be occupied with this matter all year, not to come once a year just to think; all year one must be around this matter, and especially at the point of midnight, for every moment and every second of the day of Tishah B'Av sparkles every night at the point of midnight.
11:42 And this unification there is between Yaakov and Leah - we need to pray for Rachel our mother. Whoever learns Torah, especially the whole night, gives her strength to rise and unite with Yaakov. This is a tremendous and awesome thing. But at least, as much as possible, to grab some moments of reflection on the distance, on the exile, on the length of the exile, on my own point: where do I stand in the world, where am I before Hashem in the world, how far I have gone from Hashem, how much I did not give thought to the Temple, I didn't understand.
12:16 Now a person says, "They came and told me about the Temple, they told me about Tikkun Chatzos," and he wants now, right away, to strengthen himself in it - this is a very good and very great resolution, and it repairs the person, it brings the geulah closer, it gives Hashem satisfaction beyond measure. Therefore, everyone should strengthen themselves in this, and may everyone have strength, help and assistance to fulfill it.
12:40 May Hashem, blessed be He, bestow good abundance, good life, miracles and wonders, and the complete geulah, speedily in our days, amen and amen. (Rabbi Chananya ben Akashya says)

Just as while wearing phylacteries we do not divert our attention from them - since the main acknowledgment of the phylacteries holiness is not distracting the attention from them - so too, when the high priest entered the Holy of Holies distraction resulted in death. While in a sacred place on a sacred day, we must absolutely not distract our thoughts from the day. On this day, the day commemorating the Beis HaMikdash's (Temple's) destruction, we must not divert our attention from mourning over the Beis HaMikdash. Whoever thinks often on this subject, deeply contemplating and understanding, that the Temple which was destroyed - it's not that people should try to imagine a magnificent edifice built by Herod, a magnificent building that was destroyed - but what was destroyed was the connection and our closeness to the Creator, an unmatched closeness. A closeness as such was previously nonexistent, where a person could lodge in Jerusalem free from sin, all was atoned for, leaving no damage. There were wonders and miracles and longevity for the Nation of Israel. There was peace in the world, peace among the nations. There were no wars, no woes. After the first Beis HaMikdash was destroyed, and the exile began; consequently, the second Beis HaMikdash was not on the same level as the first Beis HaMikdash. Therefore, we began anticipating the final redemption from the first Beis HaMidash's destruction, for the first and third Temples share the same aspect, "…the sanctuary, O Hash-m, which Your hands established" and "…Hash-m will reign forevermore. " The third Beis HaMikdash will be the manifestation of the Heavenly Kingdom. The Holy One will reign, and everyone will witness His kingship. During the second Beis HaMikdash's existence, under Roman rule, they surrounded the Beis HaMikdash, dominating and tyrannizing us. This was not total sovereign reign; rather, the beginning stages of exile,
