Shalom Aleichem. Welcome to the Breslov Research Weekly Parshah. This week's Parshah is Eikev. Eikev starts off, “V’hoya Eikev Tishm’un, Es HaMishpotim HaEleh.” If you're going to guard the mitzvahs that people just trample upon or they step upon, then HaShem will take care of you. HaShem will guard His covenant and the kindness that He gives you. That's the first passuk. What are the mitzvahs that people trample on? Anything that they don't feel like doing. This is good for that, good for this. I once heard of a reform rabbi who said he eats shrimp. He doesn't hold from the stringency of not eating treif fish. No, step on it, trample it, do whatever you want. Rebbe Nachman translates it differently. He says, "V'hoya Eikev Tishm’un." "V'hoya," the Midrash says, wherever you see the word "V'hoya," it represents joy and happiness. "V'hoya bayom hahu yitfu heharim asis." It will be on that day - this is after Mashiach comes - when the mountains will pour forth sweet drink and so on, "V'hoya" represents simcha. "V'hoya Eikev Tishm’un" - if you could bring your joy down to the "Eikev," your heel, to the bottom part of your body, let that joy that you have extend all the way down there, then HaShem will guard His covenant with you. What is His covenant? Rebbe Nachman explains, your covenant - your morality. HaShem will guard your morality for you. You won't be subjected to fall victim to all the things that people around you are suggesting. You won't have woke, you won't have all the different mishugasim that go on in the world. You'll be able to see clearly what the right thing is. That's how the Parshah starts off. It's a power-packed Parshah.
