Tonight's Shiur is an idea that's been germinating for a couple years. Last year I tried to say it, but I didn't have enough information on it. I couldn't develop it enough. I searched and I searched. Did anybody else say it? And the truth is this year I don't have that much more information on it. I just figured out how to present it better. Um I think it's a novel idea because I don't think anybody else uh goes on that path, which is not always a good sign. You know, sometimes if somebody said it already, at least you know you're safe. Um but I think it's uh a very important approach to the parashah. Now, here's how I want to look at the parashah. You look at parashah Shlach and you have uh the the main part of the parashah is the narrative of the meraglim. I mean, it occupies the majority of the parashah. And mysteriously, after the episode of the meraglim, Hashem says, "Okay, klal Yisrael, when you go to Eretz Yisrael, I want you to pour wine on the mizbe'ach." Like, huh? Where did that come from? Nisachim. I mean, there's 613 mitzvot in the Torah. That's the mitzvah that after the cheit hamaraglim, you go into Israel, pour wine on the altar. I don't know, put on tefillin.
