the yeshiva dotnet I want to welcome everybody who's here with us this evening all of the teenagers for our special program in which you can ask your real questions tough questions and we'll try to give real answers let me begin with a story it's a story about the Sevilla River his name was Gedaliah Moshe Goldman he was a son of the famous slam Eclipse taps link as Villa Seville is a city in the Ukraine and Gedaliah moisture goldman was a rabbi in the city of seville in ukraine under the communist regime because he was accused of counter-revolutionary activities as they were called against the Communist Soviet Union he was given a sentence of seven years in the gulag seven years of hard slave labor in Siberia for millions of people that spelled a death sentence because of the harsh conditions the unbearable conditions the cold and the frost of Siberia is indescribable some places it can get 70 below zero and seven years there with not much food than nutrition and accommodations and the constant endless labor and the horrible treatment that you got as a prisoner in Siberia plus the diseases and the epidemics that spread in those places made sure that most of the prisoners did not come out alive and thus Joseph Stalin the infamous leader of the Soviet Union managed in the 30 years of his reign of terror from 1923 till 1953 though I purim around poram 1953 March 1953 he managed to kill anywhere between 20 and 5 the million people they don't even know
