good evening welcome today we're starting a new series of uh classes hebrew grammar biblical hebrew grammar now from the name of it we already know that we're not learning modern hebrew we're learning biblical hebrew and there is a difference there is a difference in grammar and there is a difference in vocabulary some words mean different things some words mean different things in modern hebrew and they mean different things in biblical hebrew and therefore it's a separate study even someone who knows modern hebrew it's still good for him to take the the uh biblical hebrew class not everything will be new but still there will be some things that are different and it will help him in in are different and it will help him in in um learning torah on a more advanced level so the goal of this class is to understand the structure of biblical hebrew to understand the language that the torah is written in that prayer is written in and the mishna is written in as well as many torah books some torah books that are some torah books that are more recent they are written in the modern hebrew but most books that were written before the the state of israel they are written in the biblical hebrew uh there is also a slight difference between biblical hebrew and mishnayik hebrew the the hebrew that was used by rabbis rabbis to write the mishnah but after learning uh from this book and practicing you will have no problem understanding the the language of mishnah as well so again the goal is to understand the the grammar we will also learn vocabulary and we will practice and um we will understand how the hebrew language works with nouns and verbs
