with uh tonight being the first night of uh and obviously either shaney the purim feeling is in the air there is already i'm sure many high school kids as we speak planning what kind of shtick they're going to pull tomorrow or friday morning um and it brings you back to the good old days um and you know certainly it's important for us to really sort of understand simply because i think purim simply because i think purim unfortunately is really one of the more misunderstood um yom tovin it has an incredible amount of potential it's inherently uh unbelievably holy in fact i believe it's it's a slogas who said that yom kippurim the day of yom kippur is called yom kippurim because it's yom kippurin today that is like purim and when you say something is like something else what you're really saying is that there's something else is really the main thing something else is really the main thing and yom kippur is like purim yom kippur has a similar level of potential but certainly um the implication of that statement if the torah calls it yom kippurim and obviously it's a you know it's only a hint because during the time when the torah wrote yom kippurim there was no purim yet so but obviously the torah knows everything who you know everything's in the torah and really the message is that greater than yom kippur is is purim and that's that jim kippur has its you know special standing by being similar to
