What’s said in this shiur

The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Aaron L Raskin’s own words — taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.

We start with the opening verse of Korach. Ben Yitzhar, ben Kehas, ben Levi, ve Dathan, ve Aviram bene Eliav, ben Peleth, bene Reuven. And Korach, together with his cohorts, took the tribes of Israel, 250 men together with them, and they came before Mosha to create the rebellion, to create the divisiveness amongst the people of Israel. Now, even though Korach seemed to be a rebel, and Korach was very capable, he was very smart, he was very good looking, and he had a lot of money. Till today, there's an expression that says Korach reich. The guy's so rich like Korach. So, Korach had a lot of influence. And he wanted to become the leader of the Jewish people. It says over here in Rashi, Vayikach Korach, says Rashi like this, Parshas Zu yafeh nidreshes be Medrash Rabbi Tanchuma. Rashi, who normally takes the simple interpretation of the Torah, says that this portion is very well interpreted in the Medrash of Rabbi Tanchuma. Now, the fact that Rashi starts over these words yafeh nidreshes means it's very beautiful. In other words, he's saying that even though externally it looks to be very bad, but really it's a very beautiful parsha. And you have to look into the Medrash of Rabbi Tanchuma to really understand what's going on over here. So, what is the the insight? What is the message Rashi's trying to convey to us? Furthermore, furthermore, if you go back to the uh chapter number 17, as we said earlier, verse number 16 God tells Moses, "Tell all the leaders of Israel they should each give their matter. They should each give their staff. And then take all the staves together and put the the staff of Aaron in the center of all of their staves. And let's see which staff will produce almonds." And the next morning what happened was that the staff of Aaron sprouted.
