good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the continuation of our new series rabbis on the run is an extension of a series we've been doing for many years now called the people of the book tuesday nights in which we examine different major personalities in jewish history and jewish scholarship it's enabling us to blend jewish history together with the total learning jewish scholarship and each year each season we try to think of another theme another way to communicate another unit in this series called the people of the book we are the people of the book you could find online on wayutora and elsewhere the uh series classes were grateful to be moscow's orbit and those who have taught this year our theme is rabbis on the run which are the people who compose tremendous scholarship even while fleeing persecution and oppression it's an astounding astounding thing i mentioned this morning in the pasture class that we have the luxury at least here in boca raton you sit under a palm tree today wasn't so nice taka you sit under a palm tree beautiful weather a sip of pina colada you got a laptop high-speed internet you can google you've got the barillan you've got and yet we can't have an original thought and we have an incredible incredible rich history of great rabbis great leaders who fleeing for their lives trying to secure their families who are on the run didn't have books no printing press didn't have a computer couldn't save
