learning two partials today Bahar and Bechukotai. We'll see how far we get. A lot of thoughts, a lot of ideas we want to get through in both. And with it we'll end the book of Vayikra. Torah Kohanim, the story of the laws of the Kohanim. And it's hard to believe that this is the second chazak that we're saying in quarantine. The second book that we're finishing without hearing kriat hatorah together. It's hard to believe. Unfortunately it's painful to believe and yet is the reality that we are confronted with. Parshat Bahar is in the Artscroll Stone Chumash on page 696. Chumash on page 696. And the parsha begins by Hashem to God by Hashem to Moshe. Hashem to God spoke to Moshe at Har Sinai. God spoke to Moshe at Har Sinai. And so on. And then it proceeds to tell us the laws of shmita. When you enter the land six years you work, the seventh year is a sabbatical. The seventh year you rest and so on and so forth. And of course the question is begged. Why shmita at Har Sinai? As Rashi quotes what in the world does shmita, the what in the world does shmita, the opening law of this week's parsha, what does it have to do with Har Sinai? All Torah and mitzvot were given at Sinai. In fact all of Torah and mitzvot were given at Sinai. So why is shmita singled out here? Why is shmita isolated that this was given at Har Sinai as opposed to as opposed to the other mitzvot? As Rashi concludes as just as shmita its general laws, general theme, its general essence and idea as well as its particulars and details were
