0:00 I said: after all, every day a bas kol, a Heavenly voice, goes out and proclaims, 'Woe to mankind for the insult to the Torah.' If it goes out every day and no one hears it, then why does it go out? Every day it proclaims. No one hears it, so why does it need to go out? Once, when a bas kol went out, when it went out, people heard it; the whole world heard it. That was the point of its going out. So why does it go out here? The Baal Shem Tov says that the soul hears. Even though the person does not see, the soul hears: 'though he himself does not see, his mazal sees.'
0:27 But I once gave a different explanation: that the bas kol goes out even for the sake of one person who is able to hear the bas kol. And then the responsibility rests on him: since he hears the bas kol proclaiming, he has to turn the whole world around, to bring it back in teshuvah, because the claim will be against him too. So with Acher: a bas kol went out every day, 'Return, children, except for Acher.' It was, as it were, meant to strengthen him, and he took it as a reason to weaken.
0:53 Think what level he was on, that he even heard a bas kol going out from Heaven. And even though he had a hint from Heaven, as it were, not to return: 'You have no hope, you have no remedy, and you are worth nothing; everyone will return except you.' So seemingly, when the bas kol went out and he heard the bas kol, and he was the only one, of all those who heard it, but he heard it said about himself, that he has no hope and no remedy; he should have strengthened himself the opposite way, against it, and understood that he does have hope and a remedy. And so this hint of the bas kol is all the hints: when a person hears all kinds of encouragement from Heaven, all kinds of verses that strengthen, all kinds of... everything that comes a person's way and strengthens him from Heaven,
1:34 everything he goes through that strengthens him and gives him hope and gives him strength and gives him a remedy: that is the kind of bas kol that goes out to each one of us. You hear some encouragement now, you hear some word of Hashem from Heaven: that is the bas kol. That is our level of hearing this lofty level that goes out from Heaven. They are a kind of hints that the Holy One, blessed be He, is hinting to you. But remember: anything that weakens you and tries to break a person, a person is forbidden to stop and listen to it, because one must strengthen himself and listen only to the word of Hashem.
2:05 That is why the law of Hallel and of Shema Yisrael, as stated in section 422 of the Shulchan Aruch, that there is the law of interruption in the reading of Shema, and it is the same law in Hallel, the same thing: one must be careful between the sections, the same in Hallel and in the reading of Shema. What is the hint that connects the reading of Shema and Hallel? Hallel is the wholeness of thanksgiving to the Holy One, blessed be He. But with the Kingdom of Heaven, when a person accepts upon himself the yoke of the Kingdom, accepts upon himself Shema Yisrael, the revelation of Hashem's Kingship, it is the same aspect; only that here there is no Hallel, no thanksgiving to the Holy One, blessed be He. There are several aspects of Kingship. There is one who accepts upon himself Shema Yisrael, accepts upon himself the yoke of the mitzvos; he accepts upon himself the yoke of the Kingdom. It does not stop
2:43 for him. He may not make an interruption in it, only for matters of kedushah, what was permitted. And the same law applies to Hallel, the same thing. But in Hallel there is praise and thanksgiving to the Holy One, blessed be He. It is praise that is not interrupted. In Shema Yisrael it is accepting the yoke of the mitzvos; it is not praise of the Holy One, blessed be He. The praise is in Hallel. Which is greater: the praise of Hallel, or the reading of Shema? They are the same: this is praise and that is praise. But the praise here, in Hallel, is abundant praise, without interruption, to the Holy One, blessed be He.

3:10 In the full Hallel, which is said with a blessing. It is praise of the Holy One, blessed be He, without interruption. There is no interruption here at all. It is praise from the beginning of the blessing until the end of the blessing. And the same law applies to Shema Yisrael too. It is simply that in Shema Yisrael we accept upon ourselves the yoke of the mitzvos, the yoke of Torah; we accept upon ourselves the love of Him, blessed be He, to love Him. So we reveal the light of Hashem, blessed be He, upon us; we are not praising Him. There is no praise here; there is His oneness, blessed be He, and accepting the yoke of His mitzvos.
3:37 In Hallel, in the great praise of the Holy One, blessed be He, when a person praises the Holy One, blessed be He, he can also accept the yoke of the mitzvos upon himself, when he praises Hashem out of such great joy that he reveals His oneness, blessed be He, that he rejoices in everything he goes through and in everything Hashem, blessed be He, does with him. So this aspect is also included in accepting the yoke of the Kingdom of Heaven and in the mitzvos. For the greatest level is that a person understand that it is the same aspect: both accepting the mitzvos and Hallel have the same law.
4:04 So a person who rejoices in this, and understands the true and complete joy of praising Hashem out of submission, in everything that comes upon you, in everything you go through, that is the true wholeness of Hallel; that is the full Hallel. Not when a person goes by whatever he feels like and however he wants. When people want to direct the Holy One, blessed be He, on how to save a person. There are those who go to the graves of tzaddikim and do a Tikkun for the tzaddikim. Have you seen them?
4:29 They go to the graves of tzaddikim with set orders; he sits at the tzaddik's gravesite and starts doing a Tikkun for him. He does a Tikkun for him; I don't know who is giving a Tikkun to whom. I was at Rabbi Shimon last week; I went there, I prayed. There was someone there doing a Tikkun for Rabbi Shimon. He sat there by him and started explaining to him, did yichudim for him, Tikkunim. He was trying to do a Tikkun for Rabbi Shimon. I did not understand who was giving the Tikkun. Is Rabbi Shimon giving him a Tikkun, or is he giving Rabbi Shimon a Tikkun? To tzaddikim one must come with submission, with complete self-nullification. So each one at his own level. Therefore, when we come to the Holy One, blessed be He, we must always come with whole and absolute self-nullification, and praise the Holy One, blessed be He, for whatever a person goes through. And that is the highest level and aspect. That is why Rebbe Nachman says in Likutei Moharan, Part 1,
5:07 in Torah 4: when a person knows that everything that happens to him is for his good, when he knows that everything he goes through is for his good, this aspect is a taste of the World to Come. For in the World to Come there is the wholeness of all things. One sees the whole picture clearly. Today, here, when we look at the world, we understand nothing. Everything is upside down, everything is chaos, everything... We don't understand a thing. But in the World to Come, in the true and complete aspect of the ultimate purpose, when a person sees the wholeness of the intellect, when he merits the acquired intellect, acquired. All through life here in the world, a person has the intellect in action; he is constantly toiling over the intellect, working, working, working.
5:44 The intellect in action. When the intellect goes back and forth, that is called the intellect in action. Like a person learning music: then he is at the intellect in action, he keeps learning, learning, learning. The acquired intellect: he already knows how to play. A person learns Torah; he does not yet know Shas, he has not yet finished Shas: that is the intellect in action. He has finished Shas, he understands Shas, he knows Shas: that is the acquired intellect. The acquired intellect is when a person has made what he learned his own; that is called the acquired intellect. Now, in this world, whatever a person has worked out here in the world about understanding this world, it will always be the intellect in action.
6:13 He never attains the acquired intellect; only in the future to come, in the World to Come, will he attain the acquired intellect. Or like those holy tzaddikim who attained the acquired intellect in this world. Like Rabbeinu HaKadosh: he raised his fingers upward; he did not want to benefit from this world. So he had already merited the acquired intellect; he already understood what goes on in Heaven. And this is the matter of the reading of Shema, which is the intellect in action, in that we carry out the fulfillment of His mitzvos, blessed be He; and Hallel is the acquired intellect, which is already the wholeness, the Hallel, the praise and the thanksgiving. That is why they have the same law, Hallel and the reading of Shema; that is the connection between them. Section 422. A chiddush, to bring out something new like this. Right? A nice chiddush, right?
6:49 I came up with this just now in your merit, the blessing of Rabbi Liav. This is Rabbi Liav's chiddush. What is that? 'In Hashem I will praise His word; in G-d I will praise His word.' Rabbi Ezra! Applause for Rabbi Ezra!
7:19 May the Holy One, blessed be He, watch over you, over everyone, and give you salvations, miracles and wonders. May we always merit to be strong in Hashem, blessed be He, and to be full of vitality, of enthusiasm, not to be broken by anything in the world, to be full of hope, full of strength, and to know that everything is possible with Hashem, blessed be He, and in the blink of an eye, truly, in one brief moment.
7:45 Be strong, be strong, everyone. Something new, special. Just learn it for yourself!
