Welcome to Sparks of History, where Jewish history and world history meet. We are very honored and pleased to have with us today Rabbi Meir Schiller. Rabbi Schiller is a noted and acclaimed author, educator, and speaker. Rabbi Schiller was formerly the Talmud instructor at Yeshiva University High School for Boys and has lectured and written extensively on a wide range of contemporary Jewish issues. Rabbi Schiller has contributed to many prominent periodicals, including to many prominent periodicals, including journals in England, South Africa, and has lectured on religion, culture, politics, race, and ethnicity. Rabbi Schiller is the author of two books, The Road Back, A Discovery of Judaism Without Embellishments, and The Guilty Conscience of a Conservative. Rabbi Schiller is also the author of a monograph, A Defense of Rav Samson Raphael Hirsch's Torah Im Derech Eretz Raphael Hirsch's Torah Im Derech Eretz Philosophy, titled And They Shall Judge the People with True Righteousness. And today we will be discussing the fascinating historical internal disputes in Jewish history, and we're going to try to cover a lot of ground, from Maimonides to the Hasidic movement to Zionism and anti-Zionism, um secular studies, the role of women.
