Good morning. So this week, let's start with the para this week. This week we read the third portion of the Torah. Parsha means go for you. Um which starts with Abraham. Uh we the Torah last week's para mentions the birth of Abraham. Not much more about him. And this week's para opens when Abraham is 75 years old. And Hashem tells him to leave his land, his birthplace, leave the city of Karan that he was living in with his family and go to the land that I will show you, and go to the land that I will show you, which turns out to be the land of Canaan, soon to become eventually to become the land of Israel. And so Abraham leaves with his family. He goes with his wife Sarai. He's at the time Abraham is still called Aram. and he goes with his wife Sarai and with his nephew Lot and they take all their possessions and they travel to Cananan. Um they travel across Kanan from north to south and then there is a famine in the land of Canans. They're not able to the land of Canans. They're not able to stay in Kanan because there's nothing to eat. They decide to go down to Egypt which apparently did not have a famine. They go down to Egypt. Abraham is afraid that um over there the Egyptians were immoral and could not be trusted and they would he was afraid that they would um uh they would kill him in order to um take his wife Sarai and so he asked Sari to say that she is his sister which he agreed to do.
