Parshas Vayikra: Korbanos - How to Understand the Rambam's Guide for the Perplexed

preparation. Um the idea of it uh oh it almost happened many times, but it's always so close to Pesach that Pesach usually trumps the uh Parshas Tzav Yikra. But this week, uh finally it was the the right zman min Hashamayim, we had the siyata d'Shmaya to speak about Korbanos this week. So, discussing in general, what in the world are Korbanos? What are Korbanos? Why would the Ribono shel Olam want us to sacrifice animals to him? But the Ribono shel Olam likes cows? But he doesn't like cows. He likes sheep, he likes goats. The pasuk says that Korbanos are "ishei reiach nichoach l'Hashem". In the in perek aleph, pasuk tes of Vayikra, it says that the burning of Korbanos is a pleasant aroma to God. Would God like the smell of burning meat? Granted, it doesn't smell so bad, you know, it actually smells pretty good al ha'eish, right? But still, why would Ribono shel Olam want us to to to barbecue for his sake? What is the whole concept of Korbanos? Okay. So, we begin first with the explanation of the Rambam. Now, this Rambam is not found in Mishneh Torah. This Rambam is found in Moreh Nevuchim, the guide to the perplexed.
