It brings me tremendous personal joy that shortly before Pesach Sheni Tavshin Pey Vav Pesach Sheni, the day designated to celebrate, to commemorate the Yoma d'Hilula, the yard site of the Tanna like he the holy Tanna Rabbi Meir Baal HaNess that the ArtScroll publication Reb Meir Baal HaNess and the eternal children of Hashem has now been published and is now available in pocket size. I've been hoping to see the day that this sefer was available in pocket size. Let me explain. Reb Chaim Palagi the leader of Turkish Jewry in the 19th century prolific author he wrote 72 Sefarim Reb Chaim Palagi writes in Mo'ed l'Chol Chai perek Chaf Zayin Ois Ayin Vav he says we are obligated at all times to think, to focus, never to lose sight of the holy Tanna Reb Meir Baal HaNess in whatever we may be doing we always have to think about the Tanna Reb Meir. How unusual? Why are we obligated always to think about Reb Meir? We have no such obligation to think about Ram Gam Liel, Reb Tarfon or even Rebbi Akiva. Why specifically an obligation to think about the Tanna Rebbi Meir? If we could boil down all of Torah and all of Mitzvahs to one cornerstone principle what do you think that principle would be? Amazingly the Chida writes and we bring it in the our sefer on page 23 Chida in the Reish Dovid. He says it is already known that the precious cornerstone the foremost foundation for the congregation of Yisrael from the day we left Egypt until today is that Klal Yisrael are the children of the living God and we are beloved to the extent that we are called children.
