Okay everybody uh you know this is the uh once again we have a double para the last two parios in the book of amidbore and collectively this is the actually largest Torah reading of the whole year when the two parios are added together. Um obviously when you have two parios it's very hard to pick the topic because there are so many different topics. Um I want to mention two things. One one thing quickly and one thing a little more uh elaboration. You know uh one of the great books that the Rambam wrote is a book called Safer Hamitzvos uh which is a listing of the 613 commandments with very brief explanations. Meaning in the Mishna Torah you have all of the of everything for Hamitzvos. It's more than a listing. It's a listing with a brief explanation and it's divided into three parts. Part two, you'll see why I skipped part one in a moment. Part two is a listing of the 248 positive commandments. Part three is a listing of the 365 negative commandments. 248 and 365 equals 613. So what you may ask is part one? Part one is actually very very fascinating. It's the Rambam's annunciation of the principles that he used in counting the commandments because it's not so simple. We have this rabbitic tradition that there are 613 commandments in the Torah. I mean, the Torah itself does not use that number. But problem is if you count every single time God gave a
