reading of the Torah in the synagogue so I want to tell you a little bit about it the reading of the Torah when Israel even before the Torah was given the Torah was given at Mount Sinai 49 days after they left it 50 days after they left Egypt but when they first left Egypt Moshe instituted that they should study the torah's teachings he had already taught them some of the oral teachings they should study it in public three they should study it in public three days a week on Mondays Thursdays and on Shabbat Shabbat of course is our seventh day it's our holy day and Monday and Thursdays are considered days when hashem's mercy is felt in this world so therefore we chose Monday and Thursday so in those three days we they would teach the Torah in public later on the last day of his life he gave them the written Torah and he said from now on instead of just teaching the Torah in public you are to read the Torah from public you are to read the Torah from the Torah scroll in public on each of these three days of the week every Monday Thursday in Shabbat so at this point in Judaism there was still no synagogue there was still no public prayer system there was a Mitzvah to pray to both praise Hashem thank him for the things that he's giving us as well as a Mitzvah to um ask Hashem for what we need but there was no structure there was no word there
