A little a little introduction maybe maybe the commentaries just a to put things into perspective a little bit. Um the the uh Rashi is considered to be the foundation of all understanding in the Chumash. Hm. Right? Without Rashi we're we're done. We're stuffed. Right? Why is that? Because Rashi interestingly enough there's very little Rashi inside of Rashi. When Rashi offers his explanations for what the verses mean, he cites the sages. sages. So if you take a look over here, you take a look all the way down through Rashi, you'll normally you'll see invariably at the end of what Rashi says, parentheses, it'll tell you where it's coming from. Which means he's citing the Talmud. He's citing the Midrashim. He's citing different sources coming from the sages. Right? Uh that's what makes Rashi so incredibly fundamental because all of the other Meforshim, all of the other commentaries are offering their take of the verses according to their personality. according to their personality. Right? What does that mean? Every If you If you know If you know commentaries then you'll be able to identify who's speaking without my telling you who it is because they've all got their own style. Right? So for example, the Ramban Nachmanides is very philosophical. You pick him up after a while, you'll pick it up and somebody will read you a little bit of Nachmanides, you'll know that it's him. Um all all of them, across the board, they've all got their own style. And as the more you learn and the greater your ability to identify what's being said
