Shortly after Pesach and after Sukkos we have בה”ב. Monday, Thursday, Monday, many Shuls say Selichos, some people fast, and it’s a Halacha in Shulchan Aruch. נוהגים להתענות the Minhag is too fast Monday, Thursday and Monday, after Sukkos and after Pesach. And Tosfos explains why. Because on Sukkos and on Pesach there were Drashas where the men and women came together. And at these Drashas it might well be that a man looked at a woman, a woman looked at a man. And because of that, Chazal set up they institutionalized three days of fast.
