Hello and good evening. Today we will reflect on the guidance of King Solomon, the wisest of men, regarding both the material and spiritual aspects of family life through his parables and their meanings. As is often the case in the parable, he offers good true advice that relates to everyday life financially and materially. And in the underlying meaning, he speaks of a higher more spiritual dimension. Proverbs 12:29, "He who destroys his house will inherit the wind, but the one who brings up a wise heart will have a servant." In the simple meaning of the verse, a person who destroys his house, who damages his home and possessions, will inherit the wind, ultimately having nothing left, just like wind. Inherit refers to an inheritance, something that should be passed down. This person spends recklessly, doesn't know how to save or might even sell off inherited property. Gradually the financial situation deteriorates. But the person does not act wisely and cannot foresee the future. The sage is asked, "Who is wise?" The one who sees the future. Meaning, what is the future? It is like a pregnancy. Even though you cannot see the baby yet, you know it is coming. A wise person understands that what is happening now might seem in a certain pattern, but he can foresee the consequences. Just like knowing that a child is in the womb and will be born.
