all right this is our weekly Tanya class we've been going through the meditations of Tanya from chapters 41- 50 we are on chapter um so at the beginning of this chapter he categorizes well first of all just a little review there are two major types of emotions right and love and a great and he categorizes love and awe in some interesting ways he says that some interesting ways he says that um love and awe are like water and fire respectively is often compared to is kindness which is uh related to love is often compared to water because the the nature of water is to flow downward it seeks the lowest level and fire of course goes upward you know when you're a little kid and you hold a match and you hold it like this and then you and you hold it like this and then you find out you don't hold it like this you hold it like this so fire goes upward water goes down fire goes up so love goes down a goes up what does that mean um it means that generally speaking the the flow of Love or kindness is from above to below meaning to look at those beneath you uh um like to look at those beneath you uh um like was the personification of so he was doing he was constantly involved in Hospitality um when we're talking about a love of Hashem obviously it doesn't mean hashem's beneath us but what we mean is we want to bring godliness down into the world so when we're talking about AEM it's sort of this feeling of bringing God down here so that everyone can see him and appreciate
