In life, every person faces challenges. Tonight, we'll focus on one of those tests together with the guidance that King Solomon gave us on how to overcome it. This is the challenge of honesty in financial matters. Some people face this trial every single day. They may see opportunities to make money through dishonesty, through various forms of deception, and they feel this is easy money. I can get it without effort and nobody will ever know. So why not? Others will ever know. So why not? Others encounter such a test only from time to time. But King Solomon in his great wisdom gives us a few powerful lessons in a single verse, his signature style of condensing tremendous wisdom into very few words. We will also look at what our sages taught us and see the practical tools they gave us to face this challenge and hold on to our integrity. Because everyone knows the Torah's clear commandment. You shall not steal. It's one of the ten You shall not steal. It's one of the ten commandments. Yet when a moment of temptation comes, when the evil inclination grows strong and persuasive, that is precisely the time when a person must activate deeper inner resources, spiritual weapons to withstand the test. In this verse, King Solomon tells us that aside of halahic obligation, in the long run, it is far more worthwhile to be honest and gain greatly than to act with dishonesty and ultimately lose far with dishonesty and ultimately lose far more. His words are, "The hand of the diligent will rule, but deceit will be put to forced labor." What does this mean? Solomon is teaching, "If you are diligent, you don't need to be deceitful." Usually throughout the book of Proverbs, Solomon speaks in opposites. Wisdom versus folly, diligence versus laziness. Yet here, instead of opposing diligence with laziness, he contrasts it with
