week's para. Let's start with the para this week. It is um it is para uh sorry para vira which means he appeared and it begins right after the end of last week's para where Abraham at the age of 99 uh circumcises himself and his son who is 13 and um Hashem appears to him. Our sages say he appears to him right after circumcision to visit him because he was sick and it is a mitzvah to visit the sick which we is a mitzvah to visit the sick which we will talk about will be our subject for today. Um but just to tell you the story of the para first. Um then a uh Abraham sees three men coming and he gets up and he goes to take care of them and he offers them invites them in and he offers them food and he makes food for them and he sits them down and he gives them to rest and to drink and um he slaughters animals for them and makes uh bread for them. And the Torah gives us great detail how he took care of his guests. Indeed, last week we learned guests. Indeed, last week we learned from Aram the mitzvah of inviting guests and of caring for hospitality. And last year, you may recall, we did a class where we spoke about this important mitzvah of hospitality. Um, and so one of the these guests turn out not to actually be men that they appear to be, but they are angels disguised as men. Um, and one of them tells them tells his Abraham that at that time next year, his wife Sarah will have a child. And then um the guests continue on their

  2. 5:09alive. And, um, they want to keep humanity alive. And they each have a son with
  3. 10:21puts wood on the altar ties up, puts him on top of the altar, pulls out
  4. 15:27to save someone if they are in trouble there's a separate command uh you know this
  5. 20:36the head of the person who is sick. So if they're lying in bed, don't sit
  6. 26:13mad at the person or whatever or doesn't like you or you don't like the person.
  7. 31:22difference when you know that there's a crowd outside waiting for response and want to know
  8. 36:31>> What if they don't need financial help? >> If they don't need then you don't
  9. 41:45prescribe or do whatever it took um to heal the person whatever they believed at the
  10. 46:55hospital or they'll have hospitality rooms in the hospital where family members can go um to
