These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generations; Noah walked with God. And Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence—may their names and memories be blotted out. >> Onkelos writes: "For the earth is filled with violence before Me." What does "the earth is filled with violence " mean? Onkelos writes and God said to Noah: "For the earth is filled with abductees." The earth became filled with captives—the earth was filled with abductees, Jews were abducted, because of the evil deeds of human beings. Now, I am not speaking, heaven forbid, about the abductees or those who were murdered and slaughtered; all of Israel is responsible for one another (Shevuot 39a). So if one person commits a sin in Tel Aviv, the other gets hit on the head in Netivot— that’s how it works, there's nothing to be done, we are all in one ship. Didn't the Chofetz Chaim say that when they dance mixed in Vienna, the crematoria work faster in Treblinka? Why? Because we are all one people. A person makes a hole in his part of the ship; you cannot come and say, since you are there...we are all in the same ship, and you are in the cabin where you are sleeping, you sleep in the cabin, you make a hole. I say to you: Wow, wow, what are you doing? What. What am I doing? "It's my cabin, I'll do what I want, what will you do, what do you want?" But you are sinking everyone! When a person of Israel commits sins, then everyone pays the price; all those who are there in the same ship, they are pained by him.
